Practical energy and determination become palpable at LeadersUp’s Chicago Career 360: The Experience. Young adults from across the Chicagoland vicinity entered the Lacuna Artist Lofts – not the handiest looking for employment, but also looking for a gateway to new opportunities. Our team linked each single younger guy and the lady in attendance to interview possibilities with employers in the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics sector. The employer companions’ gift covered name sponsors C.H. Robinson, FedEx Freight, and FedEx Express, plus SCR Medical Transportation, Becker Logistics, and United Airlines. All 5 companies supplied on-the-spot hiring and career exploration for nearly 100 attendees.

We prepared Chicago’s Opportunity Youth for the hiring event with mock interview sessions and helped them polish their crucial career readiness abilities with our P.O.W.E.R. Skills curriculum. Many of the young adults who attended these training, like 23 12 months-antique Kymonee Cannon, secured more than one job gives.

“I was given the process with C.H. Robinson and Becker Logistics,” shared Kymonee, a current graduate of Columbia College Chicago. “I felt like this event wanted to assist folks who desired to return, people who desired to make a difference in their existence. My biggest inspiration is my son. I came to the event because I desired to higher my chances of finding my career and higher my lifestyle.”Chicago Career 360 marked our first experiential hiring occasion. I could not be happier with the teens who showed up with the clear up to start their careers via not just interviewing but also authentically illustrating their skills to employers. The aim of Chicago Career 360 is to provide a release pad for teens who frequently face hiring biases due to a lack of experience. Our achievement of this intention has become possible through our partnership with Skill Scout.

We worked with Skill Scout, a local Chicago talent platform, and were disrupted to increase hands-on sports tailor-made to every organization’s open positions. This progressive interviewing format allowed applicants to revel in what every role demanded, whilst additionally permitting agencies to assess the abilities and competencies of every candidate. The result became a more effective hiring fit. “I cherished the Skill Scout thing. It turned into truly beneficial and helped set the expectations of the jobs,” shared Kymonee.

When asked about the significance of the experiential interviewing at Chicago Career 360, Angie Freeman, C.H. Robinson’s Chief Human Resources Officer, shared, “This is a game-changer. We get a better image of each candidate’s modern-day talent sets and future potential. Equally critical, the applicants get a practical task preview and better information about the initial capabilities required to achieve success within the position. This stronger alignment among task seekers and the hiring supervisor is crucial to a successful in shape.”

The road to Chicago Career 360 consisted of defining events with stakeholders, employers, and teens. Our goal was to gain insight into Chicago’s young people’s unemployment landscape and provide solutions to the expertise-divide mission.
